SOIL: Four gatherings. Four Sundays. September 20 & 27, October 4 & 11

 

We gather rain or shine, whenever it is safe to do so. With each journey, the trail becomes more familiar, our awareness more refined, and our confidence more deeply rooted. Over time, children and adults alike begin to know the land through relationship rather than information.
What we build here has a nucleus of structure but is not pre-packaged. Like the forest floor, the strength (mycelium) is built in the willingness to explore and connect.
 This is organic, responsive, and shaped by the people who show up.

This invitation is for the dirt lovers, the sky watchers. It is for the multi-generational hearth dwellers, the young humans and their elders, the life schoolers, the queer kin, and the modern pioneers. We are calling those who long to be more than just observers of the wild, those ready to become its most capable allies.

Rather than rushing from one destination to the next, we'll practice noticing the stories held in the landscape by learning to move as a community across the land - reading trails and planning for various terrain, preparing for adventure, packing with intention, sharing food around the hearthstone, navigating with awareness, caring for the wild places that sustain us, and developing the confidence, competence, and stewardship needed to journey well wherever the trail may lead.

Participants earn Sigils by demonstrating real-world outdoor skills, contributing to the well-being of the group, and practicing stewardship of the places we visit. There are no grades, competitions, or races to the finish. Skills are revisited, refined, and celebrated as they become second nature. Think of our Sigils as a nature-based merit system but one rooted in relationship rather than achievement.

 

Each Sigil marks a step toward becoming not just a more capable hiker, but a more attentive community member and steward of the living world.
